Spaces

Overview

Spaces divide one workspace into separate product or team areas — for example Kanvas, TradeKit and AutoBook, or HR, Product and Engineering. Each space holds its own projects and its own knowledge tree, so a workspace with several products no longer shows one flat project list. Channels, direct messages and notes stay shared across the whole workspace.

How it works

  1. Every workspace starts with one space, named after the workspace, holding everything you already had — nothing changes until you add a second space.
  2. With two or more spaces, a slim rail appears on the far left. Click a space to switch; the sidebar’s project list and knowledge tree swap to that space’s content.
  3. A red dot on a space chip means one of that space’s projects has unread activity. Channels and DMs never light the dot — they are global and have their own unread badges.
  4. The sidebar header becomes a space switcher: it shows the active space and opens a menu with space settings, workspace settings and (when the rail is hidden) the space list.
  5. Your active space is remembered on this device, so a reload brings you back where you were.

Setup

Nothing to turn on. To create a space, use the + button at the foot of the space rail (or New space in the sidebar switcher menu). Name, icon and color live in Space settings, opened from the switcher menu.

Usage

  • Switch spaces — click a chip in the rail, or pick a space from the sidebar switcher menu when the rail is hidden.
  • Edit a space — open Space settings from the switcher menu: name and description auto-save on blur; icon and color apply on click.
  • Create in a space — new projects, documents and folders always land in the space you are currently in.
  • Delete a space — Space settings → Danger Zone. This permanently deletes the space’s projects and knowledge and cannot be undone; a confirmation dialog spells out the blast radius.

Edge cases & limits

  • The last remaining space in a workspace cannot be deleted — the app blocks it at every level.
  • With only one space there is no rail; the app looks exactly as it did before Spaces.
  • Moving a project or a knowledge tree between spaces is not supported yet.
  • Search and agents default to the whole workspace: Kenny’s MCP tools accept an optional space filter but see all spaces unless you name one.
  • Per-space membership is not available yet — everyone in the workspace can see every space.
